There are currently rumors of Aaron Ramsdale joining Newcastle in January among other clubs especially in the Premier League. It should be recalled that the former Bournemouth and Sheffield goalkeeper has been reduced to just 5 EPL starts since the arrival of Spanish goalkeeper David Raya on loan from Brentford.
Rumors have now been making rounds about the 23 year old’s future at the Emirates. Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Kenilworth road for the game against Luton Town, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta addressed this rumor.
Additionally the Spanish coach said that Ramsdale is not going anywhere. And he as a coach is happy to have two top goalkeepers. Besides, Ramsdale is just happy to compete for his spot like other players.
“I want Aaron Ramsdale with us. I am very happy to have 2 very good goalkeepers and Aaron is staying with us”.
“He’s willing to play. Like any player, he wants to play for Arsenal. That’s what he wants to do”.
With the 2024 EURO championship happening next year in the summer, Ramsdale will be desperate for more minutes. Besides he’s always in the contention for England’s number one spot with Newcastle’s Nick Pope and Everton’s Jordan Pickford.
However, Pope who is England’s number one suffered a shoulder injury in the Magpies 1-0 win against Manchester United over the weekend.
This would therefore seem like a perfect opportunity for Ramsdale to impress Gareth Southgate. The English manager recently revealed that he can’t guarantee taking him to Germany in the summer if he’s confined to the bench. Apparently for now, Aaron Ramsdale joining Newcastle in January is just a rumor.
