Kizito Luwaga Leaves Israeli Team Over Ongoing War

William Kizito Luwaga, a forward for the Uganda Cranes, has parted company with Hapoel Rishon LeZion, an Israeli second-tier team.
After his one-year contract with Azerbaijani team FK Sabail expired at the end of the previous season, Kizito Luwaga signed on with the Israeli team as a free agent in August of last year. He acknowledged that the continuous conflict between Israel and Palestine was the reason for his departure from Rishon.

“My connection with the Rishon has come to an end with the termination by mutual agreement of the contract that united us. I wish the club all the best and I wish better days for all those who continue to face this time of war.” I also take this opportunity to thank the administration of the club for all the support and understanding.” Said Luwaga via his social media platforms on Thursday

After playing in the top division for two years with Hapoel Nof Haglil and Hapoel Kfar Saba, Luwaga had returned to Israel.

Since leaving Bunamwaya (Vipers) eleven years ago, Luwaga has played for eleven clubs in Europe, including Hapoel Rishon LeZion.

Between 2012 and 2017, he also participated in matches for the Portuguese teams Leixoes SC, Sporting Covilha, Rio Ave, and CD Feirense.

After that, he played for Shakhter Karagandy in Kazakhstan, BATE Borisov in Belarus, and Politehnica Iași in Romania before relocating to Israel in 2020.

After making appearances for Hapoel Kfar Saba in 2020–21 and Hapoel Nof HaGalil in 2021–22, he departed Israel for Azerbaijan last year.
