Cristiano Ronaldo becomes first man to hit 1 billion followers on social media

Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the all-time greats, achieved a significant feat on social media when he became the first person to reach a cumulative total of one billion followers. Ronaldo’s recently opened Instagram account has contributed to his increased popularity on social media.

The 39-year-old, who plays club football in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr, said on Thursday that he had amassed 1 billion followers on social media, a record that has never been surpassed by anyone. Ronaldo’s most recent social media venture, a YouTube account, broke several records when it crossed the 50 million milestone in less than a week.

The majority of Ronaldo’s 1 billion social media followers are on Instagram, where he has amassed over 639 million followers. The former player for Real Madrid and Manchester United also has 113 million XFans and 170.5 million Facebook followers.

As he crossed the 1 billion milestone on the internet, the legendary Portuguese football player posted an emotional message on social media.

“We’ve made history – 1 BILLION followers! This is more than just a number – it’s a testament to our shared passion, drive, and love for the game and beyond.

From the streets of Madeira to the biggest stages in the world, I’ve always played for my family and for you, and now 1 billion of us stand together. You’ve been with me every step of the way, through all the highs and the lows. This journey is our journey, and together, we’ve shown that there are no limits to what we can achieve.

Thank you for believing in me, for your support, and for being part of my life. The best is yet to come, and we’ll keep pushing, winning, and making history together,” Ronaldo wrote on social media.

There are also a few fans with smaller followings on Weibo and Kuaishou, two Chinese social media platforms.
